(Орден Святого Станислава). Instituted on 7 May 1765. Civil Division. Constructed of 14 Kt Gold, a red-enamelled eight-pointed Maltese cross, with gold Russian double-headed imperial eagles between its arms, in addition to semi-circles of gold rays between each points of the arms of the cross, with a central medallion bearing the letters “SS” in red paint on a white enamelled background, surrounded by a green enamel laurel wreath, the reverse shows plain Gold arms as well as a white enamelled centre, hand-painted “SS” in red, maker mark ИЛ for Eduard workshop (person mark of workshop jeweller Johann Gustakovich) on the reverse 12 o’clock arm and small “Eduard” on the reverse 6 o’clock arm, the integral ring bearing a zolotnik mark of “56” indicating 14K Gold, measures 42.3 mm (w) x 45.4 mm (h), weighs 11.29 grams inclusive of original ribbon (sewn closed), enamels intact, minor wear, extremely fine condition.
Original case of issue, the exterior in red leatherette with Russian double headed imperial eagle on the lid, the interior in silk and creme coloured velvet, medal bed hinged at the base to lift for presentation, measures 60 mm (w) x 85 mm (h) x 30 mm (d), functional hinge and clasp, light wear and scuffing to exterior, remains very fine.
