Japan, Empire. A Lot of Three Orders & Decorations

1. An Order of the Rising Sun, V Class, (Kyokujitsu_sho). Instituted in 1875. In silver with white, green and violet enamels, red glass cabochon on both sides, a 3-5-3 configuration in the Paulonia flowers designating it as V class, measuring 45.5 mm (w) x 70.95 mm (h) inclusive of its Paulonia flowers and laterally-pierced ball suspension, intact enamels, original ribbon with hook and eye, in original case, black lacquer exterior, with rich purple silk and velvet interior;

2. Order of the Golden Kite, VII. Class Breast Badge, (Kinshi Kunshō). Instituted February 12th, 1890. In silver, the obverse depicting a gilt Kite above crossed ancient shields with two crossed spears and banners, on a horizontally pierced ball and swivel ring for suspension from its period original ribbon featuring a hook and loop on the reverse for secure attachment to a uniform, unmarked, measuring 41.2 mm (w) x 56.0 mm (l), in case of issue;

3. A Red Cross Order Of Merit, II Class; Instituted June 21, 1888. In silver, a white enamelled pison cross, the obverse medallion in blue enamel depicting a gilt bird with partial wreath around the outside and at 6 o’clock sits a red enamelled cross, the reverse presents a Japanese inscription translating to “Meiji 21st Year, Merit Decoration, Japan Red Cross Society”, measures 46.12mm (w) x 50.13mm (h – inclusive of integral ball), enamels intact, dark patina, in extremely fine condition. In case of issue, very fine as a lot.
