Italy, Kingdom. An Order of the Colonial Star, Knight in Gold

(Ordine coloniale della Stella d'Italia). Instituted in 1914, discontinued in 1943. A lovely Knight in 18 K Gold and multi coloured enamels, featuring a five point white star with ball finials with central medallion featuring the crowned VE cypher and date 1911 below, the reverse featuring a red enamelled disc inscribed AL MERITO COLONIALE, surmounted by a large hollow crown, measures 35.3 mm (w) x 48.3 mm (h), weighs 8.27 grams, unmarked, slight enamel damage to the obverse green ring and to the reverse 12 o’clock arm tip, in near extremely fine condition. 

Accompanied by the miniature in Gold and enamels, extremely fine. Contained in the original case of issue, exterior lid with crowned VE monogram, interior UNIONE MILITARE ROMA, with partial red velvet medal bed, measures 120 mm (w) x 108 mm (h) x 25 mm (d), notable scuffing to the exterior, functional hinge and clasp, very fine condition.
