(Τάγμα του Σωτήρος). Instituted on May 20th, 1833. Type II (1863-1924). Of top quality, a spectacular Grand Cross in Gold, a white enamelled Maltese cross with a green enamelled laurel and oak wreath in the quadrants between the arms of the cross, the obverse with a circular central medallion bearing a delicately hand painted portrait of Jesus Christ, surrounded by a blue enamelled ring inscribed “Η ΔΕΞΙΑ ΣΟΥ ΧΕΙΡ ΚΥΡΙΕ ΔΕΔΟΞΑΣΤΑΙ ΕΝ ΙΣΧΎΙ” (Thy Right Hand, O Lord, is Majestic in Strength), the reverse with a blue enamelled circular central medallion bearing a white enamelled Greek cross, surrounded by a blue enamelled ring inscribed “Η ΕΝ ΑΡΓΕΙ Δ ΕΘΝΙΚΗ ΤΩΝ ΕΛΛΗΝΩΝ ΣΥΝΕΛΕΥΣΙΣ ΑΩΚΟ” (The Fourth National Assembly of the Hellenes at Argos - 1829), the cross is surmounted by a large hollow crown with a horizontally pierced ball and swivel ring for suspension from its period original full length sash, measures 57.6 mm (w) x 87.5 mm (h), weighs 36.13 grams, minor enamel wear, in extremely fine condition.
The Star of the Order in silver, an eight point star with clusters of five faceted rays per arm, the obverse medallion in Gold bearing a delicately hand painted portrait of Jesus Christ, surrounded by a blue enamelled ring inscribed “Η ΔΕΞΙΑ ΣΟΥ ΧΕΙΡ ΚΥΡΙΕ ΔΕΔΟΞΑΣΤΑΙ ΕΝ ΙΣΧΎΙ” (Thy Right Hand, O Lord, is Majestic in Strength), the reverse features a vertical pin flanked with dual stays, central cartouche of GEORGE POMONIS ATHENES denoting maker, measures 93.1 mm (w) x 92.3 mm (h), weighs 78.0 grams, light residue on the short arms, enamels intact, functional hinge and clasp, a beautiful star in extremely fine condition.
Contained in an official case of the Order, blue exterior with central marked crown, the interior offers a white silk lid marked HUEGENIN ET FRERES, with a partial blue velvet medalbed with sash storage component below, measures 157 mm (w) x 305 mm (l) x 57 mm (d), discolouration to the exterior with areas of cracking, functional hinge and clasp, very fine.
