Germany, Wehrmacht. An M42 Drillich-Style Field Blouse

(Wehrmacht leichte M42 Drillich-Feldbluse). A well-preserved Wehrmacht M42 Drillich-style field blouse, constructed of field-grey cotton/rayon blended cloth with a pronounced herringbone twill (HBT) weave. It features a turned-down collar, with each shoulder topped by a loop and button for the inclusion of straps. The cuff of each sleeve has a vertical slash which fastens closed with two bakelite buttons. Four pockets are set into the breasts, all closing with horizontal flaps perforated with reinforced buttonholes, in turn meeting pebbled metal buttons, with the upper pockets pleated. The blouse closes with six pebbled metal buttons on the right flap meeting an equal number of reinforced buttonholes on the left. The interior features grey cotton/rayon blended reinforcements to the interior, also forming a bandage pocket at the lower right flap. Unmarked, the blouse measures approximately 40 cm across the shoulders, with an arm length of 55 cm, and an overall length of 64 cm. Demonstrating only minor signs of fatigue, this wartime blouse, primarily issued to Heer personnel but with examples of Luftwaffe issue also existent, remains in an extremely fine condition.
