Constructed of silvered feinzink, the obverse consisting of an oval oak leaf wreath, surrounding a Heer-style German national eagle clutching a mobile swastika, situated above a crossed bayonet and stick grenade, the reverse with an integral hinge and vertical pinback meeting a large rounded catch, maker marked with the logo of F.W. Assmann & Söhne, Lüdenscheid, with a die code of “3” and showing Assmann’s classic ejector pin marks, measuring 42.16 mm (w) x 52.80 mm (h), weighing 24.7 grams, demonstrating period re-attachment of the catch, a refurbished in very fine condition.
