Description
Description
(Luftwaffe Dolch für Offiziere - Miniatur). A well-preserved Luftwaffe miniature Officer’s dress dagger, measuring 25.5 cm in total length when inserted into the scabbard. It features a 15.5 cm-long, nickel-plated, magnetic steel blade which retains original sharpening throughout the edges and tip. The reverse ricasso is maker marked with the classic “ALCOSO” scale logo for the former firm of Alexander Coppel, Solingen. The blade sits securely within a nickel-plated alloy crossguard, the obverse of which bears a raised Luftwaffe eagle clutching a mobile swastika, with an intact buffer pad covering the seam. A single piece of ribbed light brown celluloid composes the handle grip, with the ribbing retaining an original wire cord. The dagger culminates in a nickel-plated alloy pommel in the form of a double-sided wreathed mobile swastika, screwing in to maintain the dagger’s structural integrity. Accompanying the dagger is its original scabbard, constructed of a pebbled and nickel-plated magnetic metal shaft. Two integral oak leaf rings situated just below the throat retain loops for the accommodation of a hanger. Wear to the nickel of the plated fixtures is evident, resulting in some toning throughout, but this miniature dagger, believed to have been used as a sales sample and perfectly replicating the full-sized version, remains in a near extremely fine condition.
