Description
Description
(HJ Diensthemd für einen Kameradschaftsführer). An extremely well-preserved HJ service shirt, constructed of khaki-tan cotton cloth. It features a turned-down collar with a partially-gilded aluminum edelweiss insignia stitched onto the right side, measuring 26 mm (w) x 52 mm (l), in a style typical of Austro-Bavarian HJ personnel. The shoulders are flanked by straps constructed of black rayon, trimmed with red piping, embroidered with a red Bann number of “507”, and pinned with a single silvered pip. Each measuring 35 mm (w) x 100 mm (l), the straps are fixed in position with stitching at the outer edge and with pebbled buttons bearing raised numerals “22” (Gefolgschaft). Stitched onto the upper left arm is a district insignia consisting of a black rayon triangle bearing a machine-embroidered yellow inscription of “SÜDOST WIEN” (“SOUTH-EAST VIENNA”), situated within a border of identical application and measuring 85 mm (w) x 45 mm (h). Each cuff features a vertical slit closing with a pebbled and brown painted magnetic metal button, allowing for flush closure or for the sleeves to be rolled up during field activities. Two pleated pockets are set into the breasts, both closing with pebbled and brown painted magnetic metal buttons meeting reinforced buttonholes. Affixed to the left shoulder strap and left pocket button is a lanyard constructed of green and white rayon threading, indicating ranks Gefolgschaftsführer-Hauptgefolgschaftsführer. The shirt closes with three buttons on the right side of a V-slit meeting an equal number of reinforced buttonholes on the left. The interior of the collar is stamped with a mark of “100/36 Z”. Otherwise unmarked, the shirt measures approximately 40 cm across the shoulders, with an arm length of 52 cm, and an overall length of 80 cm. Demonstrating only minor signs of wear and fatigue, this untouched Vienna district service shirt remains in an extremely fine condition.
