Cuba, Republic. An Order of Juan Marinello

(Orden Juan Marinello), Four piece construction, gilt truncated starburst with broad tapering arms with concave edges, the central circular medallion bearing a raised portrait of Juan Marinello surrounded by a red enamel ring inscribed "JUAN MARINELLO", the reverse featuring the Cuban coat of arms and the inscription "REPUBLICA DE CUBA CONSEJO DE ESTADO", suspended from a pentagonal ribbon of red, white, and blue stripes, accompanied by its matching ribbon bar, multi-piece construction, 40.2 mm wide x 40 mm tall including suspension ring, 19.5 grams, light staining on the medal ribbon from wear, better than fine.

Footnote: The order was instituted by the Republic of Cuba to recognize outstanding contributions in the fields of literature, culture, and education. It is named after Juan Marinello Vidaurreta (1898–1977), a noted writer, poet, and academic who played a prominent role in Cuban intellectual and political life during the mid-twentieth century. This order is ranked as 10th in the official Cuban Order of Precedence list.
