Cuba, Republic. A Group of Nine Distinction Medals

1. (Distinción José María Pérez) José María Pérez Distinction, gilt bronze, obverse with portrait of José María Pérez encircled by his name, reverse bearing the emblem of the SNTT CUBA (National Union of Transport Workers of Cuba) with stylised vehicle and gear motif, suspended from its red ribbon with two central light-blue stripes, measuring 30.6 mm x 35.2 mm, accompanied by its ribbon bar, in extremely fine condition.

2. (Distinción Marcos Martí) Marcos Martí Distinction, gilt bronze, obverse with portrait of Marcos Martí and his name, reverse displaying the emblem of the SNTA CUBA (National Union of Agricultural and Forestry Workers of Cuba), suspended from its brown ribbon with central orange and green stripes, measuring 30.2 mm x 34.7 mm, accompanied by its ribbon bar, in extremely fine condition.

3. (Distinción Por el Servicio en el Ministerio del Interior) Distinction for Service in the Ministry of the Interior, gilt bronze, obverse with raised five-pointed star, reverse inscribed POR EL SERVICIO EN EL MINISTERIO DEL INTERIOR (For Service in the Ministry of the Interior), suspended from its blue ribbon with central white stripe, measuring 30.1 mm x 34.8 mm, staining evident on gilding on both sides and on ribbon from wear, accompanied by its ribbon bar, in very fine condition.

4. (Distinción Constructor de Obras Nucleares) Constructor of Nuclear Works Distinction, silvered bronze, obverse featuring the atomic symbol within the inscription DISTINCIÓN CONSTRUCTOR DE OBRAS NUCLEARES (Distinction Constructor of Nuclear Works), reverse inscribed REPÚBLICA DE CUBA – MINISTERIO DE LA CONSTRUCCIÓN (Republic of Cuba – Ministry of Construction), suspended from its lilac, white, and orange ribbon which is dirty from wear, measuring 30.1 mm x 35.5 mm, accompanied by its ribbon bar, in very fine condition.

5. (Distinción Carlos Baliño) Carlos Baliño Distinction, gilt bronze, obverse with portrait of Carlos Baliño surrounded by his name, reverse showing the emblem of the SNTI CUBA TABACALEROS (National Union of Tobacco Industry Workers of Cuba), suspended from its brown ribbon with central white stripe, measuring 30.4 mm x 32.9 mm, accompanied by its ribbon bar, in extremely fine condition.

6. (Distinción Pedro Marrero) Pedro Marrero Distinction, gilt bronze, obverse with portrait of Pedro Marrero encircled by his name, reverse featuring the emblem of the SNIP CUBA ALIMENTARIA NUTRICIONAL (National Union of the Nutritional and Food Industry of Cuba), suspended from its red ribbon with central white and black stripes, measuring 30.3 mm x 34.7 mm, accompanied by its ribbon bar, in extremely fine condition.

7. (Distinción Juan Tomás Roig) Juan Tomás Roig Distinction, gilt bronze, obverse with portrait of Juan Tomás Roig surrounded by his name, reverse with the emblem of the SNTP CUBA CIENTÍFICO TÉCNICO EDUCACIONAL (National Union of Scientific, Technical, and Educational Workers of Cuba), suspended from its green ribbon edged in blue with white stripe, measuring 30.8 mm x 35.0 mm, accompanied by its ribbon bar, in extremely fine condition.

8. (Distinción Manuel Fajardo) Manuel Fajardo Distinction, gilt bronze, obverse bearing portrait of Dr. Manuel Fajardo and his name, reverse showing the emblem of the SNTS CUBA SALUD PÚBLICA Y MEDICINA (National Union of Public Health and Medicine Workers of Cuba), suspended from its yellow, white, and green ribbon, measuring 30.2 mm x 33.7 mm, accompanied by its ribbon bar, in extremely fine condition.

9. (Distinción Por el Servicio Distinguido en el Ministerio del Interior) Distinction for Distinguished Service in the Ministry of the Interior, bronze, obverse displaying a five-pointed star within raised circular border, reverse inscribed REPÚBLICA DE CUBA – MINISTERIO DEL INTERIOR (Republic of Cuba – Ministry of the Interior), suspended from its light-blue ribbon with central red and white stripes, measuring 30.2 mm x 35.3 mm, accompanied by its ribbon bar, in very fine condition.

Footnote: The Distinciones of the Republic of Cuba were established by individual ministries and the national trade unions under the Confederación de Trabajadores de Cuba (CTC) to recognize exemplary service and loyalty in the state sector. Each medal corresponds to a professional branch or industry: José María Pérez (transportation), Marcos Martí (agriculture), Carlos Baliño (tobacco), Pedro Marrero (food and nutrition), Juan Tomás Roig (science and education), Manuel Fajardo (medicine), and the Constructor de Obras Nucleares (nuclear construction sector). The distinctions of the Ministerio del Interior honour faithful and distinguished service within the internal security apparatus. These decorations, typically awarded for ten, twenty, or twenty-five years of dedicated work, represent the state’s recognition of labour devotion across Cuba’s socialist institutions from the 1970s onward.
