Cuba, Republic. A Group of Nine Council of State Distinction and Commemorative Medals

1. (Medalla Antonio Briones Montoto) Antonio Briones Montoto Medal, gilt bronze, obverse with the Cuban coat of arms and inscription “República de Cuba Consejo de Estado”, reverse plain, suspended from its green ribbon with a central white stripe, accompanied by its ribbon bar.. 

2. (Medalla Haydee Santamaría) Haydee Santamaría Medal, gilt bronze, obverse with the Cuban coat of arms and inscription “República de Cuba Consejo de Estado”, reverse plain, suspended from its black ribbon with red and light blue central stripes, accompanied by its ribbon bar.

3. (Distinción Fernando Chenard) Fernando Chenard Distinction for 25 Years of Service in Commerce, gilt bronze, obverse bearing the emblem of the SNTC (Cuban National Commerce Union) with stylised gear and hand motif, suspended from its ribbon with black, white and red stripes, accompanied by its ribbon bar.

4. (Distinción Antero Regalado) Antero Regalado Distinction, awarded by the ANAP (National Association of Small Farmers), gilt bronze, obverse bearing the emblem “ANAP”, suspended from its ribbon with yellow, white and blue stripes, accompanied by its ribbon bar.

5. (Medalla Ciro Redondo) Ciro Redondo Medal, gilt bronze, obverse with the Cuban coat of arms and inscription “República de Cuba Consejo de Estado”, reverse plain, suspended from its light blue ribbon with central red and yellow stripes, accompanied by its ribbon bar.

6. (Medalla Romárico Cordero) Romárico Cordero Medal, gilt bronze, obverse with the Cuban coat of arms and inscription “República de Cuba Consejo de Estado”, reverse plain, suspended from its red, white and green ribbon, accompanied by its ribbon bar.

7. (Medalla Alejo Carpentier) Alejo Carpentier Medal, gilt bronze, obverse with the Cuban coat of arms and inscription “República de Cuba Consejo de Estado”, reverse plain, suspended from a red ribbon with yellow stripes (incorrect replacement ribbon noted), accompanied by its ribbon bar.

8. (Medalla Olo Pantoja) Olo Pantoja Medal, gilt bronze, obverse with the Cuban coat of arms and inscription “República de Cuba Consejo de Estado”, reverse plain, suspended from its blue, white and green ribbon, accompanied by its ribbon bar.

9. (Medalla Abel Santamaría) Abel Santamaría Medal, gilt bronze, obverse with the Cuban coat of arms and inscription “República de Cuba Consejo de Estado”, reverse plain, suspended from its red, white and black ribbon, accompanied by its ribbon bar.

All medals are in fine to very fine condition.

Footnote: The Council of State of the Republic of Cuba established this series of distinction and commemorative medals to recognise exceptional service and contribution to national development in sectors such as culture, commerce, agriculture, and education. Each medal bears the national coat of arms on the obverse, symbolising the authority of the Cuban state. Named after prominent revolutionary and cultural figures including Abel Santamaría, Haydee Santamaría, Alejo Carpentier, and Antonio Briones Montoto, these awards honour individuals who have upheld socialist values through exemplary civic or professional dedication. Institutions such as the ANAP and the SNTC issued several of these distinctions on behalf of the Council of State from the late 20th century onwards, reflecting the state’s structured recognition of labour and ideological merit within the Cuban socialist framework.
