Description

A British War Medal, in silver, rim impressed LIEUT. G.D. TELFER., minor wear, dark patina, very fine.

A Victory Medal, in bronze gilt, rim impressed LIEUT. G.D. TELFER., patches of gilt loss, minor contact marks, very fine.

Footnote: George Davidson Telfer was born on January 1, 1887 in Collingwood, Ontario. He was employed as a sales manager at Telfer Bros Biscuit Manufacturing, and had service experience with the 1st company Grenadier Guards. He served with the 245th Battalion, CEF.

He was taken on strength by the 23rd Reserve Battalion in May 1917. He was hospitalized for gonorrhea in November 1917. In December, he proceeded overseas to the 87th Battalion and was taken on strength on the 14th.

He proceeded to England in March 1919, and returned to Canada at the end of May for demobilization.
