Austria-Hungary, Empire. A Rare Sturmbataillon 106 Personnel Badge

(Sturmbataillon 106 Abzeichen). Constructed of zink, the obverse consisting of an oval laurel and oak leaf wreath, joined together at the bottom by a pair of crossed stick grenades, surrounding a central raised skull situated above an inscription of “STURMBAON 106” (Sturmbataillon 106/Assault Battalion 106), the reverse with a clip hinge and vertical pinback meeting a flat wire catch, unmarked, measuring 44.35 mm (w) x 60.32 mm (h), weighing 10.0 grams, demonstrating loss of finish throughout, a rare and desirable badge worn as a mark of battlefield distinction by personnel of Austria-Hungary’s noted stormtroopers, in very fine condition.
