(เครื่องราชอิสริยาภรณ์ อันเป็นที่เชิดชูยิ่งช้างเผือก) a finely manufactured Royal Thai neck decoration consisting of a large starburst badge in silver with polychrome red and green enamel ornamentation surrounding a central white elephant motif in high relief, the reverse displaying the royal cypher in red translucent enamel and with the suspension device stamped “36/1”, suspended from a Thai architectural crown suspension, measuring 53.9 mm x 92.1 mm inclusive of suspension device, retaining its full original neck ribbon of crimson with narrow blue, yellow, and green edge stripes and neatly formed bow, housed in its original Thai case of issue with velvet exterior and silk-lined interior bearing the official government crest and Thai script, the top of the box is missing a state symbol device, exhibiting pleasing patina with light period wear to the metal and enamel yet remaining structurally sound and well-preserved, no accompanying ribbon bar present, very fine condition.
Footnote: The Most Exalted Order of the White Elephant is one of Thailand’s principal state orders, originally founded in the 19th century and awarded to both Thai nationals and foreign recipients for loyalty and distinguished service to the Kingdom. The white elephant is a revered royal symbol in Thailand, representing sovereignty, authority and virtue. This Commander Grade neck badge represents a high level of state recognition, and the presence of its period Thai government case together with the “36/1” suspension marking supports originality and official manufacture.
