(金凧勲章 / (Kinshi kunsho). Instituted on February 12th, 1890. A Commander badge constructed of silver and multi-coloured enamels, the obverse depicting a silver Kite (bird) superimposed on an eight-pointed star with 32 rays enamelled in red, with two crossed ancient shields enamelled in blue, two crossed spears with silver heads enamelled yellow with a red banner on either side bearing a tomoe, the reverse plain, with four screws for the attachment of the enamelled shields onto the award, on a pierced ball and swivel ring for suspension from a period original ribbon featuring a large central rosette, unmarked, measuring 46.0 mm (w) x 49.8 mm (l - inclusive of suspension), minor enamel cracks and chips on the red rays, remains in near extremely fine condition.
Accompanied by boutonniere of the IV Class designation.
Contained in its hardshell case of issue, black lacquer exterior, interior purple silk and velvet, unmarked, measures 64 mm (w) x 105 mm (l) x 29 mm (d), minor scratches, remains in very fine condition.
