An Unusual Pair Of Ss-Sonderfuhrer/Fachführer Collar Tabs

A fine matching set of late War tabs, consisting of the right hand side SS runic collar tab, constructed of black wool, displaying shiny metallic runes, all edged by red and white twisted rayon waffenfarbe; and the left hand side rank collar tab, in black wool, featuring three silvered zinc rank pips, all edged by red and white twisted rayon waffenfarbe; reverse of the tabs features standard tan buckram base. In worn condition.

Footnote: edging on the tabs is not according to regulations; however, this twisted rayon waffenfarbe appears to be period and profesionally stitched to the tab. A well known collector and authority on the subject D. Delic shed some light on this pair, suggesting: "likely the original owner spruced up his tabs with the only piping he had access to that was similar in color to the secondary piping on his shoulderstraps. He may have felt the overall appearance of the insignia was more balanced that way! Unless he was adept with needle and thread, he had it professionally done. "
