Description

Instituted in 1924. The Badge in silver gilt with red and green enamel, consisting of a red enameled cross with green enameled borders, the obverse centerpiece bearing a Royal lion on a green enameled field, surrounded by an inscription, the reverse centerpiece bearing the royal cypher of Menelik II (M II), measuring 74 mm (h) x 48.4 mm (w) inclusive of crown suspension, worn on sash ribbon, unmarked, enamels intact, extremely fine. Accompanied by the star of the Order in silver gilt, consisting of a red enameled cross with green enameled borders, superimposed on a fifteen-point bronze gilt base, reverse pin back flanked by dual prongs, measuring 83.5 mm, unmarked, light gilt wear, extremely fine. Housed in a red hard shell case, white satin interior, with velvet medal bed, extremely fine.
