Burundi, Kingdom. A Royal Order of Ruzinko, Grand Cross Set

Instituted in 1962. The Grand Cross Badge in silver gilt consists of a four-pointed star with green-enameled points in each corner, hanging on a crown suspension; the obverse centerpiece bears the coat of arms of the Kingdom of Burundi, the reverse a large M initial (for King Mwambutsa IV) on a green field, surrounded by a red-enameled ring with the inscription INGOMA Y’BURUNDI; inclusive of crown suspension 94.7 mm (h) x 60.3 mm (w), enamels intact, gilt wear on obverse and reverse, worn on a green and red sash, very fine condition. Accompanied by the Grand Cross Star, an eight-point star, each made of seven quills, superimposed by a four-pointed star with green-enameled points in each corner, the centerpiece bearing the coat of arms of the Kingdom of Burundi; reverse pin with two clasps, 88.7 mm, enamels intact, extremely fine condition.
