In response to evolving domestic opinion, eMedals Inc has made the conscious decision to remove the presentation of German Third Reich historical artifacts from our online catalogue. For three decades, eMedals Inc has made an effort to preserve history in all its forms. As historians and researchers, we have managed sensitive articles and materials with the greatest of care and respect for their past and present social context. We acknowledge the growing sentiments put forth by the Canadian public and have taken proactive actions to address this opinion.

Footnote: This group was awarded to H. S. De Beer, service number 35617, in recognition of his service with the Union Defence Forces of South Africa during the Second World War. The Africa Service Medal, instituted in 1943, was awarded to members of the Union Defence Forces, South African Police, and South African Railways Police who volunteered for war service and served either at home or abroad between South Africa’s declaration of war on 6 September 1939 and 2 September 1945 inclusive, initially for service in Africa and later extended to worldwide service.
In addition to the Africa Service Medal, Second World War British and Commonwealth campaign medals typically awarded to South African personnel (such as the 1939–1945 Star, War Medal 1939–1945, and others) reflect service in specific theatres or general wartime duty under the Allied command. These medals collectively signify sustained military contribution throughout the global conflict, often involving operational deployment, support roles, and coordination with British and Allied forces in campaigns ranging from East and North Africa to the Mediterranean and Italian theatres.
