(Nishan al-Ismail). Instituted 1915 by Hussein Kamel of Egypt. An award of superb quality, a Gold star consisting of five blue enameled arms with ball finials, each arm with ornate Gold inlay and boarders, centre medallion with beaded Gold surround consisting of green enameled laurels and blue centre, with Egyptian Crown suspension also in Gold with enameled detailing, manufacturer marked LATTES on reverse, as well as marked on reverse, obverse integral suspension, and suspension ring with Arabic hallmark for 18ct Gold, Stork denoting Gold Manufacture, and Egyptian Date Letter "A" (1925-26), also marked 585 on suspension and ribbon ring, and reverse crown for 18k Gold, measuring 61 mm (w) x 79.5 mm (h - inclusive of crown suspension adorned by crescent moon and star), with very minor enamel flak to centre, on original neck ribbon, otherwise extremely fine.

This offering is a part of the "Dr. Albert Goodwin Collection", a preeminent assemblage of world Orders, Medals, and Decorations composed solely by Dr.Goodwin between 1946-1967. Dr. Goodwin had a successful career as an educator and prominent physician in New York as well as actively serving in both World Wars with the United States Medical Corps. He acted as both President and Vice-President of the Orders and Medals Society of America (OMSA) and is responsible for organizing their first convention in 1960. He maintained further membership with the American Society of Military Collectors, the International Orders Research Society, and the American Numismatic Society.
