Softcover, entitled "The Concise Lineages of the Canadian Army 1855-Date, Revised and Illustrated Edition" by Charles H. Stewart, copyrighted in 1969, this Second Enlarged and Revised Edition published in Toronto in 1982, dedicated to the memory of Sergeant Victor Weeks Wheeler, 50th Canadian Infantry Battalion, C.E.F.. It begins with a letter from the author thanking those who helped him in the composition of the book and dated Toronto 1982, followed by a brief history of the Militia in Canada, along with Rolls of assorted Regiments and Branches. The book is then divided into four chapters: Chapter I - Branches of the Canadian Forces & Disbanded Corps of the Canadian Corps (featuring various Branch badges of the Canadian Forces after unification: Armoured, Artillery, Military Engineering, Communications and Electronics, Administration, Logistics, Medical Service, Dental Services, Security, Infantry, Land Ordnance Engineering, Chaplains Services, Legal Services, Band); Chapter II - Regiments of the Armoured Branch, Canadian Forces Regular and Reserve & Disbanded Armored and Cavalry Regiments (documenting the various name changes and amalgamations, each with the subheadings The Canadian Expeditionary Force 1914-1919, The Canadian Army 1939-1945, Battle Honours, Perpetuation); Chapter III - Regiments of the Infantry Branch, Canadian Forces Regular and Reserve (documenting the various name changes and amalgamations, each with the subheadings The Canadian Expeditionary Force 1914-1919, The Canadian Army 1939-1945, Battle Honours, Perpetuation); Chapter IV - Disbanded Infantry Regiments of the Canadian Army 1955-Date and Infantry Regiments Transferred to the Supplementary Order of Battle List (with pertinent information on each). It concludes with a fifteen page Index and a two page section entitled Sources Consulted. It contains 238 pages of text, along with photocopies of specimens and photographs of various badges, printed in black ink, the pages on a standard white paper stock, the cover in a dandelion yellow card stock, with a pineapple yellow card inserted just inside back cover, perfect-bound, measuring 217 mm (w) x 280 mm (h) x 15 mm (d). The cover exhibits edge wear along the spine, with wrinkling and light soiling overall, however, the pages contained within remain unaffected. Very fine.
