A SERVICE SUMMERY REPORT FOR A 9th SS Artillery MEMBER; Heinz Ferferth, born March 19th, 1922 in Berlin was an SS Mann of the 6th SS Division “Nord.” As a civilian he worked as a body maker in the automotive industry until he volunteered for the Waffen-SS on November 15th, 1940. He was trained with the 98K Rifle, hand grenade, the 08 pistol, and with the MG34. On January 1st, 1942, after being deployed to northern Norway and Finland, he was promoted to the rank of Senior Canoneer with the Artillery Regiment. Exactly one year later he was made a Sturmmann, and 6 months later he was made a Rottenfuhrer (group leader.) earlier, on January 12, 1943 he was married, and the change is made in blue ink in his personal information section. His service record describes his engagement in the far north of Norway and Finland, and around the region of Murmansk in the Kola region of northern Russia until June 1942. He was the recipient of the Eastern Front Medal in August 1942.
