McKILLOP). OPPLSGCM is maker marked "BIRKS" and marked "STERLING" on the edge and is privately engraved, the Second World War medals are un-named. Mounted to a suspension with swing bar pinback, as worn by the veteran, light contact, extremely fine. Footnote: Robert Arnold McKillop was born on August 31, 1925 in Dutton, Ontario, near St. Thomas. He enlisted with the Royal Canadian Air Force (R-279363) on November 1, 1943 in London, Ontario, at the age of 18, naming his next-of-kin as his father, Archie McKillop of Dutton, stating that he was Single and that his trade was that of Machinist. He was promoted to the rank of Leading Aircraftman on February 14, 1945, serving twenty-two months in the RCAF, before he was honourably released and transferred to the General Section of the Reserve Class "E" on August 24, 1946, at Lachine, Quebec. He was credited with having served in Canada, Newfoundland and Overseas, awarded the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal with Overseas Clasp and the War Medal 1939-1945, and entitled to wear the War Service Badge (General Service Class), number 399349. After the war, McKillop became an Ontario Provincial Police Officer, rising to the rank of Corporal before retiring, and awarded the Ontario Provincial Police Long Service and Good Conduct Medal with Additional Five Years' Service Clasp.
