A Rare RAD (Reichsarbeitsdienst) Drillichmütze

A Rare RAD (Reichsarbeitsdienst) Drillichmütze; This side cap is fabricated from a mid-tone fine brown Drillich, in a herringbone pattern, with two rising peaks forming a valley between the two, the cap trimmed in black embroidered piping, beginning on the left side near the front, rising from the bottom edge and continuing around the back and finishing at the right side edge near the front. Between the two end points of the piping there is a 52 mm wide dark brown cotton patch with a four-colour embroidred RAD (Reichsarbeitsdienst) insignia sewn in place on the front, with the visor removed as per regulation. The interior is lined in white cotton and is stamped in black ink "MÜTZEN-RITTER FREIBURG I. BR. 934" and size stamped "55" on the right rear sidewall, along with being stamped "Ab 1/278" and "ADG au XXVII" over "11" in the dome. The cap measures 120 mm x 275 mm, without interruption in the fabrics. Extremely fine.
