A National Lebanese Order of the Cedar
A National Lebanese Order of the Cedar - measures 57 mm x 61 mm. Constructed of silver, with bronze gilt and enamels, weighing 95g., it is of high quality manufacturing, featuring crisp detail and comes with a loop suspension interlocked with an enameled wreath. The obverse centerpiece has the Lebanese flag with "Lebanon" in Arabic on its reverse. Some enamel damage and loss to the trees between the arms, which themselves are experiencing slight discoloration, unmarked, likely of French manufacture, it remains in very fine condition. Footnote: The Order was created by law in 1936 and is regulated by the Code of Decorations as set out in Decree-Law 122 of 1959. It is awarded in five grades for "great services rendered to Lebanon, for acts of courage and devotion of great moral value, as for years in public service". The first award of the Order to Lebanese nationals was in the grade of knight only, while non-Lebanese may be appointed to any of the grades.
