A Miniature German Army Dagger by E. & F. HORSTER
A Miniature German Army Dagger by E. & F. HORSTER - Measuring 200 mm, with the scabbard on, this dagger features a 130 mm nickel-plated steel blade, with unsharpened edges, remaining bright and crisp, and having a very sharp tip. The blade's ricasso is maker marked "E. & F. HORSTER SOLINGEN", retaining its crossgraining, exhibiting moderate surface wear in the nickel plating, in addition to faint scratches overall, common to extraction and return to the scabbard, with a natural shine, in very fine condition. The fittings are silvered, featuring an Army eagle crossguard, exhibiting crisp detail and high relief, complemented by an oakleafed ferrule. The yellow-orange synthetic grip features a series of ten parallel ridges, is smooth and free of cracks and chipping. The pommel exhibits the twelve oakleaf style, with bubbling and gilt wear on the butt. The scabbard is straight, with a nice pebbling effect, the two bands exhibiting the traditional oakleaves design, with dagger suspension rings attached, 140 mm in length, silver plating wear and contact evident. Overall, a nice piece, very fine.
