Description
Description
The tunic is fabricated from an Army green cotton, while the contrasting collar is in forest green wool. The shoulders are adorned with Lieutenant's (Leutnant) Infantry shoulder boards, each board incorporating four rows of gray threading interlaced with fine silvered aluminum wire, wrapped around white cord, in a chevron formation, with a loop creating a button hole for uniform attachment at the neck end, on a white wool base, each of the loops with a silvered magnetic metal button with a pebbled upper securing the board to the tunic. Both sides of the collar at the opening have Armoured Infantry collar tabs in gray and forest green threading, on a forest green wool base. There is a single hook and eye at the opening of the collar, ensuring a snug fit at the neck line. There are four pockets on the front, one on each breast and larger ones at the waist on both sides, each designed with flaps with reinforced button holes and silvered magnetic buttons with pebbled uppers, each of the buttons marked "EXTRA FEIN" (Extra Fine) on the reverse, as are all the buttons on the tunic. There is a single row of two vertically-aligned horizontal loops on the left breast pocket for the placement of an award, that has since been lost to time. Above the right breast pocket is the silhouette of an Army breast eagle insignia, that has since been lost to time.
The front has a vertical row of six silvered magnetic buttons with pebbled uppers sewn in place on the right side, facing an equal number of reinforced button holes on the left side. Protruding from the second button hole from the top is the silhouette of the ribbon of the Iron Cross 2nd Class, which has also been lost to time. The rear of the tunic is single-vented. The inside is lined in Army green cotton across the shoulders and extends down each side just inside the opening, post-war stamped in black ink "Das Meininger TheaterHerrengarderobe" (The Meninger Theater Costume Storage Room) in a rectangular box above "Z.15", just to the left of centre on the shoulders. Both armpits have additional white cotton patches sewn in place, the collar with an Army green cotton strap sewn in place for hanging the blouse on a hook. The tunic measures 450 mm across the shoulders and 680 mm in length overall, showing light wear and scattered mothing in the forest green collar, the second button from the top on the front with loose threading, the tunic exhibiting sunning overall. As worn.
