WWII Royal Northumberland Fusiliers Battledress 1945
WWII Royal Northumberland Fusiliers Battledress 1945 - This battledress blouse is wool with a khaki brown colour. It is adorned with Royal Northumberland Fusiliers Shoulder Flashes with 2nd Infantry Division Patches below on both shoulders and Sergeant stripes on the sleeves. The shoulders have buttondown epaulet straps held in place via brown plastic buttons. The front has two pockets, one on each breast which are covered by flaps with brown plastic buttons at the top. Attached above the left breast pocket via two push pins is a medal suspension bar with three veteran's medals: the Pacific Star, the 1939-1945 Star and the War Medal 1939-1945, all three of which are in extremely fine condition. The front is completed by a vertical row of five brown plastic buttons on the right side, facing an equal number of reinforced button holes on the left. It comes with buttondown cuffs with brown plastic buttons, while the collar has a dual hook and eye closure, for a snug fit at the neckline. Along the waistline at the front is a strap on the left side, and when fed through the magnetic metal belt loop on the right side, ensures a snug fit at the waist, while inside, the waistline is reinforced with a 72 mm wide cotton band, with two reinforced buttonholes at the rear. The inside lapel on the left side has a cotton-lined pocket, displaying the maker label, "BATTLEDRESS Blouse 1940 pattern, SIZE No. 15, Height 5ft. 11ins. to 6ft. 0ins., Breast 42 to 43ins., Waist 37 to 38ins., TOWN TAILORS LTD. 1945" with an upward pointing Broad Arrow insignia below, stamped "Z" over "W"/Broad Arrow insignia/"D" over "416" on the cotton reinforcing band beside the label, the blouseitself measuring 590 mm in length overall. It displays a nice texture in the wool and quality workmanship, beautiful, intact stitching, very clean, in extremely fine condition.
