WWII Army (Heer) Ammunition Belt with Buckle

WWII Army (Heer) Ammunition Belt with Buckle - This leather belt comes complete with two ammunition pouches, one on either side at the hip, each with three pockets that are stitched to a common support on the reverse. Each of the pockets is divided into two sections inside by the use of a horizontal strap near the top. The pockets themselves have foldover caps, each one designed with a strap stitched on the underside and a die-cut, teardrop-shaped hole at the opposite end and when looped around aluminum posts on the underside of the pouch, ensure a snug fit when closed. The underside of the cap of the centre pocket of the left pouch is stamped in black ink "LBA15138", while none of the other five pockets are marked. At the back of the common pouch supports, behind the two outer pockets on each pouch, are horizontal leather straps riveted in place and vertical securing straps, which when looped around the same aluminum posts, allow for placement through the waist belt when fed through the straps on the backside. Stitched behind the centre pocket on both pouches are aluminum D-Rings, for attachment to the accompanying shoulder strap assembly. The right end of the belt has the standard "Gott Mit Uns" issue, aluminum Army belt buckle, maker marked "RS&S" (Richard Simm & Sohne, Gablonz) on the reverse, with the accompanying leather tab maker marked "R. SIEPER & SOHNE LUDENSCHEID" and dated "1935". The underside of the belt has the initials "VP" etched into it near the buckle and comes with a strap that has two rows of seven holes each for an adjustable fit at the waist when fed through the prongs on the reverse of the buckle. The left end of the belt has a metal clip for the receiving of the buckle. The two-piece shoulder strap is clipped to the aforementioned D-Rings with metal clips, the end of the strap on each side with eight holes for an adjustable fit and are stitched to a common O-Ring at the opposite end. The shoulder straps also have three smaller straps attached, two stitched to the underside of each side and one attached to the O-Ring via an aluminum post. Other than the post, all hardware on the shoulder straps is metal and is magnetic. The belt fits up to a 32" waist, the leather remaining relatively supple given its age, with intact, reinforced stitching in high stress areas, exhibiting rust on the metal hardware on the shoulder strap assembly. A terrific WWII collectible, in very fine condition.
