Germany, Luftwaffe. An Autographed Edition of “Mein Fliegerleben”, by Ernst Udet
(Mein Fliegerleben mit Unterschrift). A rare and extremely well-preserved edition of “Mein Fliegerleben” (“My Flying Life”) by Ernst Udet. It is constructed of a card stock binding with a blue canvas exterior, with the cover bearing the silhouette of a biplane, topped by the title and author’s name in golden-yellow text. An additional author and title appears on the exterior of the spine. The interior content consists of all 194 paginated pages of text and black-and-white images in pristine condition. It was published in 1935 by Deutscher Verlag in Berlin. Importantly, the first interior page bears a clear handwritten signature of Ernst Udet in blue ink, dated 24 March 1941. The book measures 150 mm (w) x 220 mm (l) x 28 mm (h). There is some yellowing and fading of the spine and exterior of the pages, but this rare, dedicated example is in an overall near extremely fine condition.
