Harper, service no. 1291, is on the Weil’s Transport medal rolls for the Queen’s South Africa and King’s South Africa medals, serving with the Imperial Transport Service. \u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003eThe Imperial Transport Service played a vital logistical role during the Second Boer War (1899–1902), providing the transport necessary to sustain British military operations across the vast distances of South Africa. The service was responsible for the procurement and management of ox-wagons, mule and horse transport, traction engines, and supply columns that carried food, ammunition, medical stores, and equipment to troops in the field. Operating under often difficult conditions, Transport Service personnel accompanied advancing columns, maintained supply lines, and ensured that isolated garrisons and mobile forces remained provisioned.
