Harris is on the Nominal Roll for the Queen’s South Africa Medal, serving with the Durban Light Infantry. \u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003eThe Durban Light Infantry was one of Natal's oldest volunteer regiments and served with distinction during both the Second Boer War (1899–1902) and the Natal Rebellion of 1906. During the Boer War, the regiment formed part of the Natal Field Force, undertaking the defence of the colony, garrison duties, and operations associated with the relief of Ladysmith before later serving in the Orange Free State and Transvaal. In 1906, the regiment was again mobilized for active service during the suppression of the Bambatha Rebellion, participating in mobile columns, patrols, and counter-insurgency operations against rebel forces in the rugged terrain of Natal.
