He entered the Royal Artillery in March 1897. During the Great War he commanded the 13th Batter, R.F.A. at GAllipoli, being mentioned in despatches and awarded the D.S.O. He was appointed commanding officer of 69 Brigade R.F.A. in January 1916 and took the brigade to Mesopotamia the following month. For services with the brigade in Mesopotamia he was twice mentioned in despatches and awarded the Order of St. Stanislaus. In June 1918 he was appointed acting Commander Royal Artillery to the 13th Division in Mesopotamia, and served in that position until the end of the war. He was created C.M.G. and mentioned in despatches on a further three occasions. Placed on half pay in August 1921, he retired as Lieutenant Colonel on 4 March 1925, and died on June 30, 1949.\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003eC.M.G.
