Constructed of gilded bronze with enamels, the obverse consisting of a Cross Pattée with white enameled arms highlighted in gilt, with a central medallion bearing a raised inscription of “FÜR VERDIENST IM KRIEGERVEREINS-WESEN” (“FOR MERIT IN THE VETERANS ASSOCIATION”), the quadrants joined by gilt plaques bearing the initials of the Prussian Veterans Association, the reverse with a barrel hinge and vertical pinback meeting a round wire catch, maker marked “HCH. TIMM, BERLIN”, measuring 44.42 mm (w) x 44.14 mm (h), weighing 22.6 grams, accompanied by its period original presentation case, constructed of a card stock shell with a marbled blue exterior, the exterior lid bearing a black inscription of “KRIEGERVEREINS-EHRENKREUZ I.
