Constructed of gilded bronze with multi-coloured enamels, on loop for suspension from its period original ribbon, consisting of a Geneva Cross, the obverse with white enameled arms, overlaid by a black enameled German national eagle clutching a wreathed mobile swastika, with feathering and details highlighted in gilt, unmarked, measuring 40.09 mm (w) x 44.32 mm (h), weighing 16.2 grams, accompanied by its original presentation case, constructed of a wooden frame with a faux red leather exterior liner, the interior with a blue satin lid liner complete with a strap to retain the award’s ribbon, bearing a partially-legible gilt inscription of “EHRENZEICHEN FÜR DEUTSCHE VOLKSPFLEGE 3. STUFE”, with an intact blue satin hinge cover and depressed velvet medal bed, closing with a metal spring catch with exterior stud release, the base bearing an embossed maker’s mark of “GEBR.
