He was a pilot in the Luftwaffe and was decorated with the Front Flying Clasp of the Luftwaffe in Gold, Iron Cross I and II Class, Wound Badge in Silver, Eastern Front Medal, German Cross in Gold, and the Knight's Cross. Alexander Glaser was born on 4 January 1914. He began his career in the Luftwaffe in the mid-1930s as a non-commissioned officer, undergoing training as a dive bomber pilot. He quickly became recognized as a skilled pilot, climbing the ranks and after flying his 500th mission he was awarded the Knight’s Cross. Gläser flew until the last day of the war, on May 8, 1945. Two days later, he would again play a key role in his unit by negotiating with US troops to renounce his Gruppe, escaping Soviet captivity. Herbert Singer was born 9 August 1919.
