A well-preserved Kriegsmarine Oberleutnant’s reefer jacket, constructed of dark navy blue wool cloth with a pronounced whipcord weave. It features a turned-down collar which is reinforced on the reverse with a layer of black wool cloth. The cuff is each sleeve is trimmed with two gold billion wire tresses, topped by a five-pointed star executed in golden-yellow celleon wire. Stitched onto the upper right breast is an insignia consisting of a dark navy blue wool backer bearing a gold bullion wire Kriegsmarine eagle clutching a wreathed mobile swastika, measuring 105 mm (w) x 45 mm (h). Two pockets are set into the lower breast flaps, both closing with buttonless horizontal flaps, while an additional pocket is set into the upper left breast with a horizontal slash. Multiple sets of threaded loops are visible on the lower left for the inclusion of badges. The tunic closes with five gilded brass buttons on each side, with an equal number of reinforced buttonholes on the left, allowing the unused buttons to maintain aesthetic symmetry. Notably, all buttons are maker marked on the reverse with the logo of F.W. Assmann \u0026amp; Söhne, Lüdenscheid. The interior is fully encompassed by a multi-piece black rayon liner which transitions into a pinstripe scheme through the arms. Two interior pockets are set into the upper halves of the breasts. Unmarked, the jacket measures approximately 46 cm across the shoulders, with an arm length of 64 cm, and an overall length of 78 cm (when folded on a flat surface).
