It features a 16 cm-long, nickel-plated, magnetic steel blade which retains factory-original sharpening to both the tip and lower edge, as well as sawback-style serration to the spine. The reverse bears a maker’s mark of “F.W. BACKHAUS, OHLIGS-SOLINGEN”. The blade is integrated into the ricasso, while the handle grip consists of two pieces of ribbed brown wood, fixed in position with dual metal rivets. Accompanying the knife is its original scabbard, constructed of a toned magnetic metal shaft. Riveted to the reverse of the strap is a brown leather strap, retaining a non-functional button closure. Issues consistent with age and field use are evident, and include running marks and surface oxidation to the blade, loss of scabbard finish, and some fatigue of the leather strap.
