A Foot Artillery S.F. 14 Binocular Periscope, by Carl Paul Goerz

(Scherenfernrohr 14 für Fußartillerie). A well-preserved Imperial German Army Scherenfernrohr 14 (bicolar parascope), constructed of a field-grey painted magnetic metal casing in the form of “rabbit ear” dual tubes, culminating at the top in intact objective lenses, with adjustable ocular lenses at the base demonstrating a clear field of vision, with two intact adjustable dials, emanating from a stem which connects to a disc-shaped base of identical field-grey painted magnetic metal, surrounded by an azimuth measuring circle complete with magnifying glass, affixed to a replacement wooden pedestal for display, both the periscope and the base maker marked “C.P. GOERZ”, indicating manufacture by the noted optics firm of Carl Paul Goerz, with an additional mark of “FUSSARTILLERIE” indicating issue to foot artillery personnel, measuring 19.5 cm (w) x 57 cm (h) (inclusive of replacement pedestal), demonstrating sporadic loss of finish to the base metal which has resulted in minor surface oxidation to the casing, while some adjustable dials remain rigid, a scarce example of wartime artillery optics in better than very fine condition.

https://www.emedals.com/products/germany-imperial-a-foot-artillery-sf-14-binocular-periscope-by-carl-paul-goerz-g64046
