Subsequently he spent about half a year with the Convalescent Company of Riflemen Replacement Battalion 12. The splinter was surgically removed and the wound healed well. However, at the same time \u003cspan class=\"m_-2384324871490268565gmail-il\"\u003eDohr\u003c\/span\u003e had to be treated for a blood flow disorder in his hands and lower arms. In January of 1942 \u003cspan class=\"m_-2384324871490268565gmail-il\"\u003eDohr\u003c\/span\u003e was redeployed to the 4th Company of Riflemen Replacement Battalion 12 in Schweinfurt, later renamed to Panzer Grenadier Replacement Battalion 12. A doctor’s report from early May 1942 states that he had been diagnosed with acrodermatitis chronica atrophicans, which is a degenerative skin condition of the extremities indicative of late stage lyme disease. From then on \u003cspan class=\"m_-2384324871490268565gmail-il\"\u003eDohr\u003c\/span\u003e had frequent health check-ups. In February of 1943 his skin disease was still classified as grade B, meaning \u003cspan class=\"m_-2384324871490268565gmail-il\"\u003eDohr\u003c\/span\u003e was still seen fit for service. However, at the same time he was diagnosed with heart disease grade L, which made him only conditionally fit for war. The doctor’s note states that he was seen as a burden to the troop and recommended redeployment to a garrison in the homeland. On March 1, 1943 \u003cspan class=\"m_-2384324871490268565gmail-il\"\u003eDohr\u003c\/span\u003e was promoted to Obergefreiter (Corporal). Finally, in July of 1943 he was sent back to Germany to serve in the 2nd Company of Landesschützen Battalion 828. A few days later during his health check-up it was found that his skin disease had deteriorated and was classified as grade L. \u003cspan class=\"m_-2384324871490268565gmail-il\"\u003eDohr\u003c\/span\u003e received his final promotion to Unteroffizier (NCO) on February 2, 1944. That same month his skin condition was classified as grade U, which made him fit only for work service in the army, but not service with a weapon. In late March of 1945 \u003cspan class=\"m_-2384324871490268565gmail-il\"\u003eDohr\u003c\/span\u003e was redeployed to the 3rd Company of Landesschützen Battalion 847.
