He enlisted with the Royal Canadian Engineers for the Second war in 1939, and went overseas with the First Division. \u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003eOn July 27, 1940, Sapper Nigra was killed by a gunshot wound to the head. While the court case states that this may have been self inflicted, the court ruled that the potentially self inflicted wound may not have been intentional.
