A small black leather bound book with pencil entries, measuring 70 mm (w) x 137 mm (h), light wear, very fine. In 1916, he was residing in Toronto, Canada with his wife, Elsie, and working as a packer. He had served in the Leeds Rifles as a private for 4 years, and a corporal for 2 years. Marriott enlisted in February 1916 with the 170th Battalion. \u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003eShortly after arriving in England, Marriott was attached to the 75th battalion. He suffered a shrapnel wound to the right foot on June 10, 1917, and was ultimately discharged to the 12th reserve battalion. As of May 1918, he was promoted to Corporal in the field, back serving with the 75th. \u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003eHe was admitted to Princess Patricia Canadian Red Cross Hospital in October 1918 after suffering a gunshot wound to the right hand. He was posted to the 1st Canadian Ontario Regiment Depot.
