It is signed \u003c\/span\u003e\u003cspan\u003eby Colonel and Leader of the 164th Light Africa Division Kurt Freiherr \u003c\/span\u003e\u003cspan\u003evon Liebenstein (1899–1975), a recipient of the Knight’s Cross and of \u003c\/span\u003e\u003cspan\u003ethe Great Cross of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\u003cspan\u003eA post-war ID card for the British Zone of Occupation, measuring \u003c\/span\u003e\u003cspan\u003e80x123mm, fine condition with the pages being scuffed and having come \u003c\/span\u003e\u003cspan\u003ecompletely apart. On March 1, 1940 \u003c\/span\u003e\u003cspan class=\"m_-717882371335509488gmail-il\"\u003eBach\u003c\/span\u003e\u003cspan\u003e was \u003c\/span\u003e\u003cspan\u003epromoted to Gefreiter (Lance Corporal), and on September 1, 1941 he \u003c\/span\u003e\u003cspan\u003emade Unteroffizier (NCO). His Soldbuch states that he “set foot on \u003c\/span\u003e\u003cspan\u003eAfrican soil” on August 5, 1942. There he was awarded the \u003c\/span\u003e\u003cspan\u003eItalian-German Africa Campaign Medal on November 23, 1942, the War \u003c\/span\u003e\u003cspan\u003eMerit Cross 2nd Class with Swords on December 31, 1942, and the \u003c\/span\u003e\u003cspan\u003e“Afrika” sleeve band on March 8, 1943. \u003c\/span\u003e\u003cspan class=\"m_-717882371335509488gmail-il\"\u003eBach\u003c\/span\u003e\u003cspan\u003e’s regiment was destroyed \u003c\/span\u003e\u003cspan\u003ein May of 1943.
