Pionier Officer's Visor Cap by Erel
Pionier Officer's Visor Cap by Erel - This fine quality cap has three rows of black piping, with the body of the cap fabricated from a dark field-gray wool, featuring the classic high peak and rounded saddle-shaped sides. It has a forest green wool band around its circumference, which supports a silver bullion wreath surrounding a cockade, the cockade in rows of black and silver bullion wire with a red felt centre, resting upon a forest green wool base. Immediately above on the crown is a 2nd Pattern Eagle. The visor is black vulcanfibre with a silver bullion cord above, in two rows, knotted in the appropriate-style on the sides and held in position via pebbled gilt posts on both sides. The underside of the visor is synthetic and finished in tan. The tan sweatband is leather, stamped in silver ink on the left side with the "EREL Stirnschutz Patent" maker's mark, the two ends tied together with a tan ribbon, in bow-tie fashion. The dome itself has a tan rayon liner, with a clear celluloid moisture shield, stamped in silver ink on the rayon liner with a diamond-shaped insignia inscribed "GES GESCH EREL BERLIN SONDERKLASSE" in the centre, with "OFFIZIER KLEIDERKASSE BERLIN" above and "Extra" below and no owner's tag present. Overall, it measures 235 mm x 260 mm x 165 mm in height. The cap has experienced light moth invasion on the field-gray wool upper and forest green band, light crazing on the visor and extensive sweat staining on the leather sweatband. However, it continues to exhibit smooth quality in the wool, plus quality workmanship, intact stitching, maintaining its original period look, better than very fine.
