Period Photos of a General & KC Winners

An “Eisernes Kreuz 1939 2. Klasse”; white metal cross pattée of multi-piece construction with a blackened iron core (magnetic) within a white metal ribbed border; on loop for suspension (unmarked); with its period original ribbon; the obverse with a raised central mobile swastika with the re-institution date “1939” in raised numbering on the lower arm; the reverse with the original institution date “1813” in raised numbering on the lower arm; measuring 44.38 mm x 44.60mm; weighing 19.8 grams; the core and frame extremely well preserved; in overall near extremely fine condition.

An extremely rare and seldomly encountered cloth version of the Iron Cross; with arms and "core" in black wool with frame, crown, 1914 and Wilhelm cypher in finely detailed silver bullion, measuring 43.5 mm x 44.2 mm, this appears to be a worn example as evident from the surface wear on the silver frame; remains near extremely fine.

A second war German “Infanterie-Sturmabzeichen” silver grade; oval shaped oak leaf wreath in silvered feinzink, with a national eagle clutching a swastika on the top and a bowtie on the bottom. Diagonally across the badge is a Karabiner 98k with the bayonet attached to the front of the barrel and the carrying sling hanging from the rifle; the reverse plain; with a vertical round wire pinback, a sheet metal hinge, and a flat wire catch; unmarked; measuring 62.52 mm x 47.52 mm; weighing 14.4 grams; with approximately 50% of the original silvering remaining; in overall better than fine condition.

A letter, measuring 209x297mm, extremely fine condition with folding creases. It is sent by the Adjutant of the Reich Governor of Württemberg, an SS-Obersturmführer, his signature is indecipherable. It states that Miss Margarete Teufel from the University of Tübingen won the Reich Vocational Competition in 1938. She is being congratulated. The sender states that the letter is accompanied by a prize, the “book of the Führer”. It is unknown which book is referred to. The letter is dated to Stuttgart on August 4, 1938.
