Grand Officer set if insignia, comprising: neck Badge, in silver and enamels, 48mm (Condor suspension measures 16x24mm), with full length of neck ribbon; Star, in silver gilt and enamels, 73mm; nice quality set of insignia, unmarked, circa 1935, in extremely fine condition. In fitted case of issue, bottom with recipients details: Sr. Contra-Almirante C.H. Akermark. Footnote:Carl Harald Akermark, born 1873 in Kristne, died in 1963 in Stockholm, was a Swedish naval officer. Akermark graduated from the Royal Naval College in 1894and was then appointed as second lieutenant. He was appointed lieutenant 1897, captain 1903, captain of the second degree in 1916 and the first degree in 1919, Captain 1923, Rear Admiral in 1927 and vice admiral in 1934. Akermark served in previous years on patrol and torpedo boats, including that of master of HMS Wasa and Svea HMS. The future career in the torpedo weapon led to positions in the torpedo department at Stockholm naval station, and as head of the Maritime Administration's torpedo department. 1927 was arable command of the coastal fleet, the first few years as its chief commander, and in 1931, after a change of job name, he was head of the same organization. In 1933 he became head of the Maritime Administration and remained there until his retirement and entry into the reserve, five years later. In connection with the outbreak of war in 1939 Akermark returned back to the service and was placed as head of West Coast marine district until 1942.
