Order of Combatant Merit
Order of Combatant Merit - Knight, in silver and green enamels, gilt centerpieces, 38.5 mm x 40 mm, light contact marks, extremely fine condition. This order was created on September 14, 1953 to recognize the leaders of organizations whose aim was the support former combatants and victims of war. Insignia were made by Arthus Bertrand, Paris. To be appointed a Knight, recipients were required to be at least forty years of age and to have given at least fifteen years’ service. The order has not been awarded since 1963 and thus had a life of just ten years.
