Military Order of Saint Louis Jetton 1760-1774 - Silver, weighing 9.7 grams, obverse with the right-facing bust of Louis XV, inscribed "LUD. XV. REX CHRISTIANISS." above, reverse with the coat-of-arms of Louis d'Orleans (Duke of Chartres, later Duke d'Orleans (1720-1752); Grand Master of the Royal Military Hospitaller Orders of St. Lazarus and Our Lady of Mount Carmel) surrounded by the inscription "LOUIS DUC D'ORLEANS GRAND MAITRE", 31 mm, light contact and pitting, very fine.Footnote: Louis XV (1715-1774). The order of Saint Louis is a royal and military order instituted by Louis XIV in 1693. It was intended to reward services rendered to the army.
