I./64 Regiment Aluminum Luftwaffe Sword by SMF
I./64 Regiment Luftwaffe Sword by SMF - Measuring 875 mm, with the scabbard on, this sword features a 667 mm nickel-plated steel blade, with a dull edge, remaining bright and crisp, and having a dull tip. The blade's ricasso is maker marked Solinger Metallwaren-Fabrik Stocker & Co., with the company's king insignia, and exhibiting a contact mark above the king's head. It retains its crossgraining, with light wear and exhibits scratching overall, common to extraction and return to the scabbard, nicks on both edges, and a natural shine, better than very fine. Blue/black Moroccan leather washer remains very supple and intact. The fittings are aluminum, the crossguard exhibiting crisp detail, complemented by the circular gilt Swastika insignia in the centre on both sides and is engraved with the regimental identification "I./64" and "5./12" on the flanking undersides of the crossguard. The wooden based grip is wrapped in blue/black Moroccan grip leather, exhibiting scattered nips in the leather accented by tight, silvered springy wire. The pommel also has large gilt circular swastikas on both sides, trimmed on the edge with repeating clusters of oak leaves. The scabbard appears without dents in the aluminum fittings, wrapped in the same blue/black Moroccan leather as the dagger's grip, scattered nips in the leather, with a ball finial on the chape, complemented by two hanger rings, the original blue crescent hanger. Marked with the regimental identification "I./64" and "5./12" on the throat. Better than very fine.
