"Turkey (Ottoman Empire); c.1900; Sash Badge: multi-piece construction, fine quality, silver seven-pointed star base, center appliqué in Gold and red enamels, Gold die-stamped sabres peirced into centre, measuring 59.7 mm (w) x 77.2 mm (h) inclusive of its silver and red enamelled crescent moon and star suspension, on a shortened sash ribbon; and Breast Star: multi-piece construction, Turkish-made, two-piece silver seven-pointed star base, center appliqué in Gold and red enamels, silver gilt die-stamped sabres, mint marked and marked with the tughra of the sultan on the reverse, 89 mm (w) x 87 mm (h), vertical pinback flanked by dual prongs. Crazing in the red enamels on the centrepiece on the breast star, otherwise the enamels are intact, extremely fine. "

 This offering is a part of the "Dr. Albert Goodwin Collection", a preeminent assemblage of world Orders, Medals, and Decorations composed solely by Dr.Goodwin between 1946-1967. Dr. Goodwin had a successful career as an educator and prominent physician in New York as well as actively serving in both World Wars with the United States Medical Corps. He acted as both President and Vice-President of the Orders and Medals Society of America (OMSA) and is responsible for organizing their first convention in 1960. He maintained further membership with the American Society of Military Collectors, the International Orders Research Society, and the American Numismatic Society.
